Taranaki Airs Welcome Mitch McCarron as First Import Player for 2024 NBL Season

The Taranaki Airs are excited to announce the signing of Mitch McCarron as their first import player for the upcoming 2024 NZNBL season. Head coach Sam Mackinnon and his team have been working tirelessly to assemble a team that combines local talent with international experience, and the addition of McCarron is a testament to their commitment to excellence.

Mitch will play a significant role with the club. His leadership speaks volumes but I can’t wait to get to work with him and watch his game redevelop into the elite dynamic combo guard we all know he can be.” Mackinnon responded when asked what Mitch can bring to the Airs in 2024.

McCarron, known for his tenacity and versatility, has made a name for himself in the Australian NBL with standout performances and a strong work ethic. His ability to play multiple positions and his basketball IQ will be key factors in the Airs’ strategy for the season.

The Taranaki Airs are committed to building a team culture that emphasises community engagement and personal development.

Cole Brown, General Manager of Taranaki Airs, shared his enthusiasm, "We are thrilled with Mitch's signing and eagerly anticipate not just his sporting contributions but also embracing him and his family into the Taranaki fold. Our region is the quintessence of community spirit and an idyllic setting for nurturing a young family."

With the signing of McCarron, the Airs are sending a clear message that they are serious contenders for the 2024 season. The team is looking forward to integrating Mitch’s experience and leadership into their roster as they prepare to take on the Manawatu Jets in their season opener on March 30th.
